The Covid-19 pandemic has brought home to me the vital work of the NHS and its nursing staff. I have always thought of myself as someone who has a little insight into its workings, having a wife who is a nurse in the field of palliative care. However, the harsh reality of the struggles the NHS is facing has never been starker than now. As I am not someone who has clinical, medical or nursing skills I felt I had to look differently at how I can contribute in a way, however small, to help the NHS and nurses in particular, during the current pandemic. I’m a director of a promotional print company, and this is where my skills are. With this in mind, I decided the best way I could help was to use the skills I have. To create a range of slogan designs to raise awareness of the importance, not only of social distancing but also of the impact the Coronavirus is having on each and everyone one of us. On deciding which charity to support the Cavell Nurses’ Trust was my first choice, as I feel now, more than ever, nurses require both financial and psychological support. The Cavell Nurses Trust strives to provide essential support for Healthcare workers up and down the country, and it seemed very appropriate to support them during this current crisis. Through the sales of t-shirts and hoodies, I feel I am able to contribute to their on-going amazing work and have pledged to donate 100% of the profits.
